OUR PROJECTS
At Terra Segara Indonesia Foundation, our projects are rooted in education, conservation, and community participation. We believe meaningful change happens when local communities—especially young people—are actively involved in protecting their environment.

Our initiatives focus on strengthening awareness of Nusa Penida’s Marine Protected Area, promoting marine and coastal conservation, and preserving Balinese cultural heritage. Through hands-on workshops, environmental education programs, beach and reef conservation activities, and collaborative community actions, we empower participants to become stewards of both land and sea.

Each project is designed with a participatory approach—working alongside schools, local leaders, and community members to ensure long-term impact and shared responsibility. Together, we are building a generation that values, protects, and sustains the natural and cultural treasures of Nusa Penida.
Scuba Dive Training and Certification
Our Scuba Dive Training and Certification program provides local youth with the opportunity to gain internationally recognised diving skills while deepening their understanding of marine conservation.
Through professional instruction and hands-on experience in Nusa Penida’s waters, participants learn essential diving techniques, safety procedures, and responsible underwater practices.

Beyond certification, this program fosters ocean stewardship. Students explore coral reefs, identify marine species, and understand the importance of protecting the Marine Protected Area.
By combining skill development with environmental awareness, we empower young people to become confident divers, conservation advocates, and future guardians of their marine ecosystem.

Penidacology
Penidacology is our signature educational program designed to inspire young people to discover and protect the unique marine environment of Nusa Penida.
Through interactive workshops, field-based learning, and open discussions, participants gain a deeper understanding of the island’s Marine Protected Area (MPA) and why it plays a vital role in preserving ocean biodiversity.
The program highlights Nusa Penida’s charismatic marine species, including manta rays and mola (ocean sunfish), exploring their ecological importance and the need for responsible protection.
At the same time, Penidacology addresses the sustainability of local livelihoods—encouraging thoughtful dialogue about responsible fishing practices and sustainable tourism.
By connecting environmental knowledge with real-life community challenges, Penidacology empowers youth to become informed decision-makers and future leaders who balance conservation, culture, and economic sustainability.

Coral Restoration and Beach Clean-up
Our Coral Restoration and Beach Clean-Up program transforms environmental education into direct action. We believe conservation is most powerful when learning happens through hands-on experience in nature.

Participants actively engage in coral restoration activities gaining practical skills while understanding the importance of healthy marine ecosystems.
In addition, our regular beach clean-ups encourage youth and community members to take immediate responsibility for reducing marine debris and protecting coastal habitats.

By combining knowledge with meaningful action, this program nurtures a sense of ownership and stewardship. Participants do not only learn about environmental challenges—they become part of the solution, contributing directly to the protection and restoration of Nusa Penida’s land and sea.
